San Francisco Young Democrats Candidate Forum

Destcription: SFYD is hosting a series of candidate forums this summer and fall. They will be moderated by none other than the San Francisco Examiner’s irreverent political reporter, Melissa Griffin. They will also be streamed live by VidSF and online viewers will be treated to commentary by the always entertaining Beth Spotswood, of CBS5’s Eye on Blogs and SFGate’s Culture Blog. The Harvey Matthews Bayview Hunters Point Democratic Club and Alice B. Toklas LGBT Democratic Club will join as co-sponsors of the Supervisor D10 Forum.

Description: Bayview/Hunter’s Point teens will have a chance to grill supervisorial candidates on matters that affect them as part of the “Hear Our Voices” event. The youth-led forum is organized by the International Studies Academy, The Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts and John O’Connell High School and fully sponsored by College Prep Institute. It will allow students in the area to meet candidates who could potentially make decisions based on their needs, including safety on the streets, improved employment and better graduation rates among African Americans.

This event will also include a question and answer period. Each candidate will be asked to respond to one or two randomly selected questions, and be given 3 – 5 minutes to respond. Candidates will be asked to respond to different questions. The event will also include light snacks and refreshments.
